FIT TO
FLY
The Place: El Medano is a charming village with a real surfy, laidback atmosphere, great food and most importantly epic sailing. It is an extremely popular windsurfing and wingfoiling destination and it’s not hard to see why. Spanish bars, restaurants and surf shops line the harbour and boardwalk, which is always quietly busy with people making use of the public exercise equipment and tranquil spots for some morning yoga.
Coaching: Coaching runs 5 days out of 6 from Sunday – Friday, with change over day on Saturday at a cost of 500€ per week.

On this clinic we will take you from beginner to foiling and beginning gybes at the flat water spot. For more advnaced wingers we hope to be able to try some short downwinders at the end of the week.
We ask that guests are also windsurfers as in more than 30 knots we have the option of wave sailing instead. We have planned the dates during the months which classically provide perfect 'wing weather' but there is always the possibility of very strong winds and we can take advantage of the windsurf conditions that Medano offers.

Level: Windsurfers only
This clinic is aimed at wing beginners or intermediate wingers. The prerequisite is that guests have a level of windsurfing where they can at least sail on a board without a daggerboard.

Conditions: During the FIT TO FLY clinic we will be based at the flat spot which is just 10 minutes north of El Medano. Offering perfect flat water and a huge sailing area it's perfect for the first steps into winging.
Travel: Flights are pretty cheap with lots of airlines, you fly to Tenerife South airport from most British airports. Once you arrive, Medano is only 10 minutes by taxi from the airport and costs around 10 – 15 Euros
Car Hire: For clinics in Medano we recommend car hire as we will be venturing out of El Medano some if not all of the days.
Cicar or Autoreisen offer great prices and fully comp insurance.
Acommodation: There are plenty of accommodation options in El Medano, we recommend Playa Sur Hotel or for self catering apartment accommodation please contact us for some options. There are also a variety of windsurf centers and options differ dependant on the clinic, please ask for for more details.

Temp: During autumn, spring and winter the average daytime temperature is around 25 degrees, and the water is a bit cooler after winter, so a wetsuit is definitely recommended, a long summer suit or a shortie (for the more hardy amongst you). Also the evenings can be a bit chilly so it’s worth packing a hoody and some jeans.
In summer the daytime temperature is around 30 degrees but the wind can still be cool. Most riders wear at least a summer 2mm shorty, some will sail in just board shorts. We recommend bringing a wetsuit as we will spend a lot of time on the water and on the beach. Even during summer it's always good to have at least one hoody for the windy nights!

What else the town offers: Cycling, both road and mountain biking is big here so pack your lycra if that’s your thing. There are also lots of excursions such as trekking mount Teide or the giant water park; Siam Park in Las Americas.
Insurance: Insurance: We recommend VDWS insurance for all of our clinics, they charge an annul premium of 39 Euro and cover you worldwide for windsurfing and other sports and are totally worth it! Click here for more....
